Barcelona Restaurant Recommendations

We're going in a couple of weeks. Is it advisable to pre-book or just wing it? That's what we did last time on a European City break, just wandered and stopped where we fancied. That was about 5 years ago though. We're staying pretty centrally, gothic quarter about a 15 minute walk. Does anyone have any recent recommendations? Not looking for anything posh or pricey, just decent casual restaurants.

Thank you in advance ☺

This place. 100%.
The steak is amazing.

You are staying nearby.
You have to walk through the kitchen to the dinning area. Its an experience.
It is not posh. It's not the cheapest but it isnt the most expensive either.

They usually do walk ins if go early.

For an evening meal, definitely Arcano and/or Bodega Biarritz 1881 tapas bar. Have a drink at Bar Marsella and try the Forest of the fairies (El Bosc de Les Fades). It’s right next to the Wax Museum and is very easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. I’d never heard about it before visiting with our guide for beers and the décor is absolutely fantastic and whimsical.
Boqueria Market is great for lunch and for getting a variety of amazing food to take home.
