Passport Renewal - Name Change Documents....

Hi all,

I have just opted to renew my passport online, and I have submitted the appropriate information. I am now at the stage where I need to send over the requested documents. I have read the list of options, however I have very little from within the past 12 months on paper as everything is paperless. I do have clinic letters from the hospital after treatment, and I have a letter from Ikano Bank as I am paying off sofas via them on behalf of DFS.

Would either of these do? Not sure if a clinic letter would fall under the NHS medical card, or if the DFS loan breakdown would be similar to a bank/utility.

Many thanks.

No, a medical letter isn’t the same as a medical card. The Ikano statement may be okay if they operate as a bank in their own right. But even if you have paperless statements etc, surely you BFF an still download and print copies of anything you need?

GiltEdges · 03/09/2022 22:45

you can still download*

dementedpixie · 03/09/2022 22:46

Was it a change by deed poll?

LetstalkaboutBruno · 03/09/2022 22:48

@GiltEdges thanks for the reply. Dammit, never mind then. I guess a medical exemption certificate won't do either then?!

I could, I am just working for the next 6 days, so won't make it to the PO to send over the documents. I just get a bit tetchy if they can't be done. I have someone who can drop them to the PO for me tomorrow though. So I was just hunting to see whether I can find anything in the house that would be sufficient. I have already downloaded Aug's bank statement and sent it to my work email if nothing I have to hand is suitable.

@dementedpixie it's a divorce - back to maiden name

This is the last thing that I own with his name on, everything else has changed back to maiden name.

That's a bit ridiculous that you need to do that when it's a name you used before and is on your birth certificate. Its so easy to change it after marriage but they make you jump through hoops to revert back to your original name.

Hope you get it sorted

dementedpixie · 03/09/2022 22:54

The .gov page just says:

a document that shows you’re using your new name (for example a payslip, or a letter from your local council)

The letter would probably be sufficient

LetstalkaboutBruno · 03/09/2022 22:55

I know, tell me about it @dementedpixie! It is hard work, I have had to wait so long to get to this moment! I just want it gone 🙁

I have a wage slip... I mean I could send that? I just always presumed it had to be name and address for completeness. It also doesn't say that on the passport page.

I don't believe that I have any letters that are from the local council. I only had the electoral role one the other week but I did it then chucked it! Dammit!! We don't pay council tax, so I don't get yearly letters either...

clinic?

Neurology
Neuro-opthamology
IVF

All clinics that I am under at the moment. I have had so many clinic letters in the pats 12 months with name, address, DOB... the works. Enough to confirm who I am.

It's just to show the name is being used. I'm sure any of them would be ok

LetstalkaboutBruno · 03/09/2022 23:04

@dementedpixie Thanks, I may just send an Ikano one, a clinic one and the exemption certificate ones. I know it only asks for one, but just in case!

I don't need them immediately, so I can at least send a few and then they can take their pick!
