My husband got his back in 4 days at the beginning of August, and my son's took 3 weeks. Different offices - DS' processed in Bootle and DH in Hertfordshire (I think). Good luck!

Summerslam · 03/09/2022 17:25

You should be okay, I got ours back within 3 weeks, both mine and DHs and that was at the height of the holiday season.

Yes I got a child’s renewal in about 10 days from when the photo thing was confirmed online by my friend.

sorry to jump on thread. My passport expired years ago. I want to renew it. Will be a make change too as married now. Will this be await ages job too?

safarisogoody · 03/09/2022 19:12

i really cannot say but hopefully someone will have some idea. it does clearly say to apply at least 10 weeks before you plan to travel and don't book any holidays before tha passport is in your mitts!!
good luck i'm really hoping that mine will arrive in time

In the same situation - half term holiday in Europe but need to get DC passport renewed now as otherwise much longer haul trip at Xmas at risk…have got my fingers firmly crossed

bruffin · 04/09/2022 11:33

Dont use the post office waste of money and takes longer than online Mine and ds took 3 weeks back in msrch when it said it was taking 6 weeks

SophyRivenhall · 04/09/2022 11:34

I applied last Tuesday and got a text on Friday saying it had been printed and was ready for delivery. I'm hoping delivery isn't going to take more than a week or so.

Tigerstigers · 04/09/2022 11:38

I think you'll be fine op if you've already applied. 10 weeks is worst case scenario and I imagine the chaos is calming down now we're at the end of summer hols. We applied back in June for two renewals and they were back one within less than a week, and the other a week later.

Passthewinebottle · 04/09/2022 12:35

Recently renewed mine (had a few months left on it) & DHs (expired last year). Mine was back in 8 days & his was exactly a month. Not sure if it's relevant, but mine went to Northants & DHs was Liverpool. Good luck OP!

Pandorapitstop · 07/09/2022 03:37

DH took his old passport to the Post Office on a Saturday morning, and they did his online application and photo, etc.
He received his new passport just the following Friday.
And he received emails re progress of application at each stage, which was reassuring, knowing when it was being printed and when it was on its way etc.

Mybeautifulfriend22 · 07/09/2022 03:45

Mine came back in less than two weeks in July. A work colleagues renewed hers this last month and it was about ten days ish

IsJohnReadyToMakeAComeback · 07/09/2022 03:58

My DC renewal took 8 days.

whatonearthh · 07/09/2022 05:48

Less than 2 weeks for my DC's passport

Festivalpartygirl · 07/09/2022 06:10

Do it all online - have photo at a place that uploads and gives you a code to reference when you do on line application, send your old passport off promptly, DS and I had ours back in less than 2 weeks- we applied in August - can’t fault the service - was kept informed via my mobile every step of the way.

Rache13 · 07/09/2022 06:25

Mine was an online renewal with name change, took 9 days in total!

Pleasant surprise after all the horrible stories I’d been reading l.

user1487194234 · 07/09/2022 06:32

Got mine in 5 days in early July

Sprogonthetyne · 07/09/2022 06:55

I applied for the kids recently, one a renewal and one a first passport. Both were back in about 3 weeks. I did get the photos confirmed the same day (it's online, so you just give the persons email, and they filled it in straight away), then I got the documents in tracked first as soon as the post office opened.
