I'm in the UK and want to go to an All Inclusive type resort next year somewhere in Europe. I have a medical condition, children, and OCD which is triggered by health and safety. I am getting treatment for this and I have come far enough that I feel okay with the idea of going abroad. However, the place I choose

@PixellatedPixie I used to take Sertraline but stopped a year or so ago.

I'm thinking Spain rather than France for the typical AI holiday aspect. Think kids disco at night. Not my favourite type of holiday but the kids enjoyed it once and I want to do it once more while they're still young.

I'm tempted by Lanzarote Playa Blanca but can't get the worrying thoughts out of my head that the hospital is too far away, or if an emergency, a helicopter to Gran Canaria will be needed. I know the risk is very low but OCD is not rational.

Wouldn't it be better to stay in the uk? Lots of hotels with full board and entertainment.

It would be better in some ways but other ways not. I struggle because I don't want my paranoia ruining chances for my children doing fun / normal things. I'm quite proud I'm even thinking of booking somewhere abroad, pushing my boundaries, but it's hard.

Hi OP

Im not quite the same as you but am a single parent who has health anxiety, so also check out access to health care etc before going away. I particularly needed this when I first started travelling alone with my kids.

I actually have been to Lanzarote 3x - stayed in a hotel near Playa Blanca that has a doctor’s surgery just outside and also an excellent public health centre about 5 mins away. I also stayed in a hotel which has 24/7 reception and where the reception is exceptionally helpful. Found it very reassuring when I was first travelling alone ( I now do venture further afield with them and am
more confident!).

How about ClubMed? They have on-site medical centres. If you went to one of their France locations, you'd be very near the French health service too for a hospital. Not sure about their other locations. But they take safety and health very seriously and the AI experience is great. I will say they are VERY French though- not sure how you'd feel about that. I had huge culture shock for a few days, then settled in and loved it. I'm also a very anxious person.

BTW ClubMed v much has kids discos at night, loads of kids activities and clubs etc...

You have OCD and you want to go AI? The buffets at AI places are my worst nightmare.
