I am due to fly Manchester to Barcelona and return in September. Stupidly booked before reading reviews. Now I am reading about horrendous delays, cancelled flights, lost luggage and absolutely no customer support in any of these circumstances. So does anyone have a positive experience to share? (I am aware that people write negative reviews more readily than positive)Or do I take the financial hit and book with another airline in order to avoid dh’s meltdown if anything goes wrong?

Who are you booked with ?

KangarooKenny · 27/08/2022 09:44

Ignore that - I assume Vueling is an airline I’ve never heard of 🤣

or save the money towards a divorce lawyer! Who needs a dh having a meltdown over a delayed flight in their life?

I flew from Edinburgh to Barcelona with Vueling 3 years ago . It was awful . Flight delayed , plane dirty, rude cabin crew .Never again . Sorry .

DownToTheSeaAgain · 27/08/2022 09:56

I flew to Granada from Gatwick with Vueling a couple of months ago. Flight was on time, clean, staff lovely.

We flew on Thursday with them, it was a BA code share. Absolutely fine although flight was delayed slightly as they had to tow it out the hanger Grin
They made up time on the flight and arrived at scheduled time.

I went Manchester to Barcelona with Vueling (on a BA codeshare) in May, amongst the supposed delays/chaos at Manchester Airport, and it was absolutely fine - no delays, no lost luggage etc.

My only piece of advice would be that once you've gone through security at Barcelona and are in the shopping area of the terminal you still have to go through Passport Control. I've never been to Barcelona before and it wasn't obvious as the Passport Control is up some escalators and out of sight. Brexit means the if you hold a UK passport your passport has to be stamped and there were big queues for this so allow plently of time to get to your departure gate.

Flew Manchester - barcelona return in may and they were absolutely fine, the only thing that confused me was the check in machines rejecting my British passport at barcelona airport and the lady manning the machines was a bit rushed off her feet supermarket self-checkout style, no idea why it wouldnt scan not even sure if it was a brexit thing, I just had to queue at the desk instead. Would
fly with them again, its very no frills.

I've flown several times with Vueling, they are fine. No terrible experiences. There was a long delay once when I flew Gatwick - Barcelona years ago, but that was because there was an issue with an aircraft, which can happen to any airline. They were really good at keeping us updated, giving us food vouchers at the airport, and I had the EU261 compensation in my bank account within days.

We booked a BA holiday, then discovered it was a code-share LGW to BIO with Vueling
There was a 3-hour delay. The gate no. was changed, & then we were kept in a lounge without air-con for 3 hours. Repeated announcements about "20 minutes delay". Lying toads. We couldn't go anywhere. Plane was just sitting there.
They're supposed to provide food & drink but they didn't.
I'd never fly with them again.

I live in Spain. Vueling are always my first choice in fact I'm flying with them again tomorrow

Olderkids · 29/08/2022 11:24

Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply. Will keep fingers crossed that your positive experiences are replicated for us !

At this point no airline is really any better or worse than any other as a lot of delays are outside of their control (staffing issues in the airport, staffing issues in baggage handling, staffing issues in ATC etc) and you're right, nobody goes online to wax lyrical about the amazing on time flight they had so all you see looking at reviews is the bad.

ChicCroissant · 29/08/2022 11:59

I've flown with Vueling pre-covid, I'd not heard of them before either but both flights were fine for us.

Zen8 · 31/08/2022 17:38

We flew with vueling in June and had no problems. I had read the reviews and was a bit worried but it was really good

YesitsJacqueline · 31/08/2022 17:40

They are just as bad or good as every other budget airline out there at the moment

coconuthead · 31/08/2022 18:46

I've flown with them several times, never had an issue with them. I find them better than Ryanair or EasyJet tbh
