Efteling help

Hi,

Looking at booking Efteling next year for 5 days. We would be flying over with our 3 and 2 year old. We don't want to drive over there (I'm not confident enough and DH drives for a living so would want a break)

Can anyone give me any handy tips?

Thank you x

I doubt you’ll want five days. We did the whole thing in a day and a half. Maybe allowing an extra half day or a day for taking your time, but even so.

There is an app which shows queue length which is handy.

It’s a really lovely place.

We took the Eurostar to Amsterdam then train short bus ride to Efteling

We went a lot as kids in the 80s. Did it in a day,

I'm local to Efteling and agree 5 days is a lot. They do have lovely accomodation though, my advice is to combine it with Beekse Bergen, which is a lovely animal park/safari about 20 minutes away.

We stayed at the euro park site quite nearby (short bus ride) which had lots of toddler friendly activities (pool/soft play etc) which was good for keeping them entertained.

On-site accommodation is gorgeous, we stayed in the town houses in Bosrijk, absolutely beautiful houses, lots of play areas, found it quite magical. We did 2 nights, I’d say maximum of 3 needed, food options are quite limited. If you can drive there that gives you option to go via a supermarket and self cater.

It's just a theme park. One day is plenty.

We are going for the second time on Sunday and we are combining it with Beekse Bergen (which is what we did last time too). This time we are just doing 2 nights Beekse Bergen and one in Efteling but the first time we did four nights BB and 2 in Efteling which was perfect.

At Beekse Bergen you can either rent directly from them or through Eurocamp, we have found Eurocamp is much cheaper and you get complete flexibility on which day you arrive. When staying there you get free entry into the safari park (a bit like Longleat type place) plus they have a brilliant indoor pool on site, a lake, loads of play areas and you can get a boat across to a bit that’s like a mini theme park. E always drive as it’s only three hours from Calais and it’sa very straightforward drive so has been the easiest and cheapest way to get there. Once there we’ve only used the car to then get from BB to Efteling (about a20 minute drive) and then back home again so you could do it without a car if you were willing to pay for taxis.

The accommodation in the village at Efteling is lovely but if you don’t have a car I would think 5 nights there would be too much as you would want to get out and explore the local area and not just be in Efteling. It’sa fantastic and magical place though (which is why we’re going back again).

We just got back from Efteling. We had an amazing time. I would say two days is about right. There are a couple of very nice centre Parcs locations within an hour's drive that you could book. Thinking two days in Efteling and 3/4 at CP.

I'm going to disagree with others and say that you can easily do 5 days, if your kids and you like it. It's wonderful and if you stay you can relax into it. 5 days means you could take a nice leisurely pace, go on everything you like as long as you like. We enjoyed just wandering around the beautiful grounds, without the mad rush of queuing for rides, for example. We had 3 full days there and could have stayed longer!
The only downside I can see is the food, which on site is very expensive and pretty much fat and sugar based!
Enjoy your stay and your time with your little ones. I wish it was me but I'd need a tine machine!
