We (family of 4) are driving from Carnac to Calais in the next few days and looking for recommendations for a stopover, possibly for a couple of nights. Currently camping but happy to book non camping accom for a couple of nights!

interested in anything scenic with water sports, hiking, historic town, anything like that - just so hard to look at the map and guess as it’s such a vast area!

I would stop in Normandy. Bayeux is a lovely historic town and near lots of beaches (the D-Day landing beaches). There were people sea kayaking at Arromanches when I was there. It's still quite a drive to Calais from there though. Honfleur, further along in Normandy is also lovely and closer to Calais. One night would be enough to wander round.

We’ve recently stayed at Ricordeau Hotel which has lots of family rooms, a swimming pool and games for the dc in the garden. The food is quite fancy but they did smaller portions for the dc and they were invited by the chef into the kitchen. We’ve also broken the journey in Deauville at at Huttopia Senonches and would recommend both.

There is a lovely campsite at Honfleur: “La Briquerie”, swimming pools, restaurant and a large supermarket next door. The town is beautiful and interesting to visit.
Arrowmanche has a decent municipal campsite in the centre and five minutes walk from the shops, beach and WW2 Normandy Landings Museum and memorials, with more on the hillside above the lovely little town.
