Google The Witchery - supposed to be pretty fab - but you'll need to book asap

lovely - thanks ladies. They both look fab. I think the Balmoral may be where JK Rowling was filmed writing the last bit of final book.
Will look into dates/prices with both of those.

We stayed at the Scotsman and it was really lovely, central and trendy (Molton Brown bathroom smellies).

We went to The Witchery and were hugely disappointed. That small that you could hear the next tables ocnversaiton, poor was very poor - Leek Tart was so over cooked and hard that I couldnt even cut it with a knife!!! Steak ordered medium and came well done. Personally we would not go back. We have a wonderful meal at The Dome (Not the pub change!!!) a beautiful high ceiling restaurant with chandliers....that was my highlight!!!

The Witchery is absolutely bloody gorgeous.

meant to say food was disapointing, wine and wine waiter was fabulous though...perhaps we went on a bad night!

Thankyou so much for all your suggestions. For various reason this trip has no been rerouted to Harrogate but will keep these for when i do actually make it to Edinburgh.
