I'm in Barcelona for a few days next week with work. I've been several times before but always with DW and kids. Going to miss them all, but also have to admit excited to be going away for a few days on my own!
When I'm in a city on my own what I like to do is to wander around and then sit with a good coffee in a cafe for a bit. Also like travelling around on the Metro (anything I need to know about tickets here? I seem to remember it's straightforward...?)
My work itinerary is quite packed, but it would be great to try to do some stuff in the evenings that I couldn't do before with young kids. Solo female traveller - really used to travelling on my own, speak basic Spanish, etc.
So
- Any cafes, etc you'd especially recommend? (I do really like Spanish hot chocolate)
- Social history museums, walks, etc - especially anything with a female/feminist focus?
- DW and our daughters have been diligently doing Spanish Duolingo over the lockdown and I'd love to get them something like an easy-to-read book or two in Spanish. Any especially good bookstores, ideally open in the evenings?
- It is going to be very hot, isn't it....?
Or really anything else to get me excited for going to Barcelona...
