Holiday booking time - possibly Portugal - Vila Vita Parc or Sheraton Pine Cliffs?

I know Tutter was deciding this last year - don't know what she did in the end though.

We have DS who will be almost 7 and are thinking of last week in July and first week in August. Went to La Manga in Spain last year mainly for the football academy which DS loved but it wasn't exactly what we wanted.

Looking for really nice hotel or apartment, nice pool, beach, nice restaurants and other children for DS to hopefully play with. Being able to wander to outside restaurants would be nice too.

Any recommendations? We are thinking Portugal as we have friends in Lisbon and would hopefully spend a couple of nights with them at either the end or beginning of trip.

we ended up at vila vita and were pretty happy with it - service excellent. food varied from ok to very good, the latter quite pricey. you can't wander to anywhere from the hotel tbh, if you wanted to explore outside the complex you'd be better off hiring a car. for a week there's enough to do in the hotel itself, but for longer i would suggest a car

used babysitting services - one of the girls from the front desk (the tall german one if she's still there!) and she was great (booked before we went)

good pools and access (down steep steps) to a nice, small beach
