Tankini shorts that actually cover everything?

Hi!

Has anyone had any success finding tankini shorts that are actually long enough to cover more than regular bikini bottoms?

I bought a pair of shorts from Cotton Traders that seemed long but in actuality they're still short enough to allow hairs to escape and flash a fair bit when I sit cross-legged (only worn them in the living room so far!).

We're going to Spain in a few weeks and have a very active toddler. I'd like to be able to play with him on the beach and in the pool without worrying about accidental exposure 😂

I suggest women's board shorts which you can wear over bikini bottoms. Got mine from Mantaray but not sure that exists any more but you will find others online.

Creepymanonagoatfarm · 19/08/2022 10:12

I got a pair from H&M.

Bramshott · 19/08/2022 10:21

This is the holy grail of swimwear! I would absolutely love a pair which are clearly still swimwear shorts (rather than board shorts or long shorts) but cover everything without too much depilation needed. I had a really good pair I got online from Littlewoods some years back but they died, and the replacements from Boden are not long enough...

magicstar1 · 19/08/2022 10:25

I ordered some from America.....they were called swimming shorts, and are basically shorts made of swimwear material, with sewn in knickers of the same material. Plenty of coverage.

blobby10 · 19/08/2022 10:26

You might like Lands End swimwear - I always find the way they cut their swimsuit or tankini bottoms really good.

lljkk · 19/08/2022 10:28

men's jammers (swim shorts). Nicely cover all sorts.

jay55 · 19/08/2022 10:28

Seafancy have got a few. I've been eyeing up their swim dresses too.
Not bought anything yet so don't know if they're good or not.

Lands End are your friend here - they have close fitting long leg swim shorts, looser swim shorts, long loose ones, swim skorts (not sure how long the under shorts are), skirts and then bikini, tankini and rash vests that co-ordinate

stickygotstuck · 19/08/2022 10:33

I have these, had them for 3 summers, greatest thing ever. And some of them have pockets. Just don't forget to take your phone out before diving! Speaking from bitter experience...

I got some fron Decathlon. I can't find the link now but might be worth checking.

DameHelena · 19/08/2022 12:15

I've a vague idea I've seen some in Sweaty Betty.
Also, and I know this isn't what you asked, but if you were up for a one-piece then I wear triathlon-style cozzies and they come down far enough to hide my unruly pubic hair!

Queenoftheashes · 19/08/2022 12:18

@stickygotstuck these look fab - any tips on the sizing ? Not sure what M X L translates to!

I am a size 14-16 and got the XL ones. They are a bit loose around the waist and don't fall down even when diving from a certain height. But I'd go for the L now.

My teen DD has these Decathlon surf boardshorts. Those are loose fitting and shorter but the coverage is good too.

And these tighter, lycra type ones:

Mens swim shorts are the best, they often even have zip up pockets which are handy for locker key or a bit of change for the icecream van.

SingingSands · 19/08/2022 12:45

Type "women's swim shorts" into Amazon and you'll get loads of results to choose from.

TheBirdintheCave · 19/08/2022 15:38

Thanks for everyone's replies! I love the Land's End ones (and they come in navy to match the swimming top I already have) but they're not in stock until November 😢

I'll keep looking through the other suggestions :)

These are the ones I bought originally! They are way shorter than they look in the photo sadly.

SHEIN have great swimwear

inmyslippers · 20/08/2022 16:43

I bought this set from SHEIN in and the shorts are great.

I have these molke swim shorts and they're fab

BigcatLittlecat · 20/08/2022 16:49

I have had the same problem recently! I ordered some from seafancy, like a skirt with a bikini bottom underneath, but if the skirt rode up they would have been indecent! No one wants to see my flabby tummy! Same with TU swim skirt.
I bought 2 pairs from Shein and they are fantastic! Cover everything and no hair escaping! Really cheap too! Like big gym knickers but they work for me! In fact like the one in a previous post!

Oh that's a shame! But thanks for the heads up so I don't make the same mistake.

AmazingStuff · 20/08/2022 18:53

I ordered some from Amazon which are great. Cheap too

Filterphobia · 20/08/2022 19:27

I’ve just seen some on boohoo that are cycling short type but are swimming shorts, would they be what you are after?
