Confirming identity for passport - being asked to do it again.

I applied for my son's first passport on 24th July and I had his identity confirmed the same day.

I've just received an email stating the application is on hold as I need to get his identity confirmed.

Is it normal to have to do it twice?

Did the person who confirmed in the first place meet the criteria? I.e. one of the jobs listed.

It wasn't listed, but the jobs listed were only examples and it's not an exhaustive list. I am in the same profession (Paramedic) and have verified someone's identity for a passport before with no issues.

I would assume that’s the issue, I can’t see any other reason for you to have to do it again.

Did the person you asked respond to the email they were sent? Or there may be an issues such as a typo in their passport number or something.

Yes they did do it and I had confirmation from the passport office that it had been completed. I posted on a Passport Facebook group today and several others have said they had to confirm more than once as well (some used the same person, others used a different one).

It's all sorted now anyway, I got a nurse friend to do it. Got immediate confirmation that it's been approved and passport is being printed.

Not sure why they didn't accept the first one or why it took three weeks to tell me. I can't see why a paramedic is any different to a nurse, they're registered to a professional body as well and I've done a friend's application before with no issues.
