Where should we go for a week in September?

DH and I want to get away for a week in SEptember (DC now adults.)

We both fancy a Mediterranean type holiday - rose wine on the terrace overlooking the ocean, pretty medieval towns with markets and churches, lots of salads and fresh fish. But I'd quite like to visit a country I have never been to before. We've been to Greece, Italy, Spain, France.

Where should we go? Croatia? Malta? Doeds anyone know of a lovely place that fits the bill but isn't one of the countries we've been to?

Thanks.

We love Corsica, obviously French but quite different.

Corsica. Sicily. Portugal. A different Greek island? Brittany (I know it’s France but it has all you want).

Malta doesn’t appeal. A big rock really! If you haven’t been, Portofino in Italy is lovely.

Or be a bit more adventurous! You can easily do Cape Town. 2 hours time difference I think. Wine estates, sea, whales, super guest houses by the sea, but not so many churches! Stunning scenery makes up for it though!!

Cyprus or Madeira?

Sicily and then after a couple of days get the ferry to Malta

Dubrovnik?

If you do fancy Malta - how about Gozo instead? It's supposed to be much nicer but I haven't been there myself.

I disagree with PP about Malta, it's been years since I've been but it was great. Lots of history, boat rides, fireworks every night in different resorts, bars, restaurants. Valetta had a ww2 exhibition experience and Knights experience. Agree that it's not a European medieval pretty town place though.

I like the idea of Portugal. It never comes up when DH and I discuss places to go but I am definitely adding it to the list. Thank you.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We've booked somewhere now.

Been to and loved Corsica, Brittany and Sicily in the past. Will definitely consider Cyprus, Portugal and Malta (or Gozo) in the future.
