I have been there but only stayed 1 night, I lived in Abu Dhabi. There are a number of good standard hotel resorts but not too much else. Its a fair trek to Dubai and further to Abu Dhabi if you want activities. If your happy having a relaxing sun break it would be fine. Personally I prefer Fujairah on the gulf of Oman side of the peninsular but it may be harder to get to.

why do you prefer Fujairah may I ask?
the hotels in Ras Al Khaimah seem more up market (Rixos, Hilton etc).
Could you recommend a hotel in Fujairah (all inclusive)?
yes I want a relaxing beach holiday where we do nothing much. Only want a day trip to Dubai maybe.

I like the way the Hatta mountains come down to the sea and think the beaches are nicer that side.
The Hilton resort was a bit faded but had lovely staff. though its now operating independently.
I dont know about all inclusive, Ive only done 1 or 2 nights getaways. At the northern end there are a cluster of resorts, the Raddison Blu is nice in the mid upper bracket. There is also a Fairmont resort and I think Mirage in the lux end.
