Zante - Alykanas/ Alykes

Hello. I'm looking for some recommendations for Zante in the Alykanas Alykes area. After finding several hotels which looked lovely but then having terrible reviews I'm looking for personal recommendations.

We want to travel for 7 night in August next year. There will be between 5-8 adults and 2-4 children. Self catering is fine.

The absolute musts are:

  • Pool (preferably with something for kids and a pool bar)
  • Close to the beach
  • Spotlessly clean! This is an absolute non negotiable (I feel sick reading some reviews!)
  • Working air con!

Bonus point for:

  • Modern or recently renovated - happy with basic so long as it's clean

I'm not sure if a Villa would be better if we all decide to go but I've no idea where to start with that.

Many thanks in advance!!

Best place we ever stayed was the Phoenix Beach hotel in Tsilivi.
Right on the beach but with grass to sunbathe on. Good food at a pool bar. B&B.
It's so popular people book while there to come back.
DS2 (24) still says it's his favourite place.

@BeechFairy thank you. We've been to Tvilli and whilst lovely it was just too busy for us. We like the Alykenas and Alykes area. It just suits our pace.

Haha, it wouldn't be my first choice for just us but with teenagers it was perfect.

deflatedbirthday · 10/08/2022 15:37

@BeechFairy I think when ours are a bit older we might revisit it. DSD going through an ASD assessment is quite sensitive to super busy places and noise so we try it pick somewhere lively enough for us all to enjoy but not overwhelming

Alykanas is my happy place too! I have stayed in the Valais hotel a number of times, lovely pool, bar/food but no slides or anything like that. Each room has a double and a single bed, not sure how that work for your party? It’s family run, right on the beach. spotlessly clean.

I have also stayed at the Alykanas beach hotel, but that was about 8 years ago, I did like it though.

MsMiaWallace · 10/08/2022 16:06

I've found my people!
Alykanas is our 2nd home!
I'd recommend Dannys Hotel to you any day.
I also hear Letsos has upped its game.

deflatedbirthday · 10/08/2022 16:32

@MsMiaWallace 😊 we love it there. Letsos was the place I saw it looks beautiful! But the reviews.... 🤢 even the recent ones!

There is anew part of the Letsos I think, looks more like apart with a swim up pool.

iamme21 · 10/08/2022 16:43

Apartments even!

deflatedbirthday · 10/08/2022 17:27

@iamme21 I read that too but according to the reviews they have been charging people extra on arrival to use those rooms

I stayed at Alykanas Beach Aparthotel two years in a row about ten years ago. No idea what it's like now but if it's anything like it was then I'd recommend. Right on beach, nice pool, friendly staff, great views etc.

iamme21 · 10/08/2022 23:00

@deflatedbirthday Thats shocking!

iamme21 · 11/08/2022 10:52

@deflatedbirthday @MsMiaWallace where are your favourite places to eat there? I used to love Paradosiako but they have changed the menu and I’m not so keen now. I’m going back over in a couple of weeks so would love any food recommendations.

MsMiaWallace · 11/08/2022 12:28

Horio's & Mantallena in Alykanas are beautiful!
Cocktails always Iguana bar.

iamme21 · 11/08/2022 14:33

i like Horio and will give Mantellena try. Love Iguana bar😍

Wallawallakoala · 11/08/2022 15:59

I love the sea view hotel. Short walk to the little village, amazing uninterrupted views. You share a pool with a neighboring hotel and the pool bar food and drink are so good!

Bumping up. Looking for personal recommendations for a quiet and not touristy place to stay. Is this area busy with restaurants? Should we go for half board or is there nothing around and look for all inclusive?

apapuchi · 05/02/2023 23:28

I know this is old but with regard to autism please avoid Panos Aparthotel. The staff spent the entire 10 days looking at my son and all of us like he had 5 heads. Awful and really upsetting and I had asked a Greek friend to help me beforehand getting cards translated into Greek explaining his difficulties.

Synchron1 · 05/02/2023 23:59

We have just booked domes aulus autograph collection. Laganas It looks lovely and quiet, right on beach. Son will be 14 months old

KickingScreaming · 06/02/2023 00:05

Oh do go to the Mill Bar just along the beach in Alykanas, Julie & Spiros will make you so welcome - lovely pool there too!

Lovethatforyou · 06/02/2023 00:08

Check out The Dream in Tragaki. The best place to stay on the island imo and suits al your requirements.

berrypop · 06/02/2023 00:17

We stayed in this villa a couple of years ago. It's near Tslivi but in the hills so a quiet location and it was spotless. Lovely (smallish) pool too.

We didn't really like Alykanas as found it to have too busy a road and a long walk to the beach which didn't have many restaurants or bars in it. Really loved Alykes though!
