Hi

As it says really... thought this could be a useful thread to share information on. I have just come back from a beautiful hotel where I booked the upgraded room "bungalow" advertised with a kitchenette so I assumed had separate bedroom and the kids would be in lounge. No it was all one rather small room! No privacy or space to swing a cat (had I wanted to!)

So looking to build a list of places where the kids can sleep separately without having to pay for two rooms. Want hotels hotels rather than villas or s/c as obviously that normally states amount of bedrooms.

I will start;

1 - The Crane Barbados - kids sleep on sofa bed in large lounge

2 - Girassol Suites Madeira - kids sleep on sofa bed in separate room

3 - Relaxia Lanzasur Lanzarote - bungalow style all inclusive, kids sleep in lounge/kitchenette

Please provide me with inspiration for future hols! Thanks

Sun Gardens Dubrovnik - two bedroom apartments in a hotel complex.

Martinhal Sagres - ditto plus villas

Sensatori resorts family rooms usually have a separate section of the room closed off for the kids.

Hotel Skipass, Slovenia. Kids on sofa bedroom in living room

Vila Bled, Slovenia. Two separate bedrooms in a huge suite. Not really suitable for young children

Ikos Olivia. Kids in living room of large suite plus separate bedroom

Hard Rock Hotel, Maldives. Several family options including two bedroom suites / villas

Nautilus, Maldives. Mortgage a kidney but beyond all dreams

I’m not fussed with my kids being in the same room so long as they have their own bed. Also love a Premier Inn as a result and The Landmark in London family rooms as a result.

Our DCs had a separate (small) room when we booked a family room at Watergate Bay in Newquay

Not in tune with other recommendations bit fifteenth from maldives but both legoland hotel & chessington hotel had bunkers in a separate area with own TV for kids

Anxious153 · 07/08/2022 00:13

GF isabel tenerife - bungalows
Golden port Salou - family suites
Las Marismas Fuerteventura- 2 bedroom apt

Travelled a fair bit as a family in Tenerife.
I only book hotels with adjoining or separate rooms for kids. Here’s examples of where we have stayed

Iberostar-las dalias, bourganville playa and anthelia (which is £££) all have adjoining rooms so you get two bedrooms/two bathrooms with adjoining door between rooms.

GF Isabel-kids sleep in sitting area, separate bedroom for adults.
GF Gran hotel is the same, separate bedroom for adults
GF Victoria (not stayed here) but same as other GF (5 star prices) wit separate sleeping areas.

Gran oasis resort two separate sleeping areas, duplex arrangement.

Butlins is the same separate room at the front.

Loads of places offer this. Probably be easier to choose a location then ask. Just a suggestion!

Lindtnotlint · 07/08/2022 17:50

This is the time I wish I didn’t have three kids. Ours won’t share a bed so we are looking for places that have a double bed (for us) then a separate space with three separate beds in it. Surprisingly v hard to find!

Great ideas thanks just looking for inspiration as most of the place I want to go and like the hotels all seem to be one room.

@BookwormButNoTime who did you book Villa Bled with - direct or a package and when you say not suitable for young children would 8 & 11 be ok? Thanks

BookwormButNoTime · 07/08/2022 23:32

@JazzyBBG We booked direct. It’s all rather “old school” so done by email and fax. The hotel is a historical monument - it had a large crystal glass vase gifted by the king of somewhere placed on our dressing table………. The furniture is also original so I was a bit paranoid about spilling things.

My 8 and 11 year old were fine as we told them to stay away from the vase etc, but if you have hectic children then might be worth reconsidering.

The bathing platform was gorgeous but the lake is COLD. There were children there but of the well dressed, well behaved sort. Not a place for toddlers but ours were fine (although wearing Next not designer clothes 😂😂😂😂).

Granada: La Bella Granada (family room)

We have booked a family room at La Bella Granada in Granada city centre. It has a bedroom and separate sitting room with a sofa bed and also two bathrooms. It's a newly renovated boutique hotel and the prices were incredibly reasonable. No pool but it has a beautiful terrace overlooking Plaza Bib-Rambla.

Travelling through Europe a lot of BB hotels have annexed spaces or mezzanine levels in rooms - great for families.
A lot of hotels in the US have suites with more than 1 bedroom and a kitchenette even the more budget hotels.

Notacottish · 14/08/2022 09:02

We recently stayed at Grecotel Imperial in Corfu in a one bedroom Suite with two bathrooms and sliding doors between the bedroom and living room. Our daughter has a proper single bed in the living room. We felt it was an excellent safe compromise for us as we wouldn’t sleep in a separate hotel room to our daughter but can’t really all sleep in the same room.

Chrestomanci3 · 14/08/2022 10:19

Mallorca - Iberostar Cala Barca - had a suite there with two bedrooms and large sitting room. Also Blau Punta Reina (in Mallorca) had a separate bedroom, with double sofa bed in main room.

Portugal - 3HB Clube Humbria near Albufeira - separate bedroom with twin sofa beds in main room.

Daios Cove Crete.

Excellent idea for a thread, very useful info.

DB Seabank in Malta has family rooms, with a sliding partition between 2 parts of the very large room. We were put in a really nice one on the corner of the building that also had a mini round 'room' area with a table and chairs in.

Lykia · 14/08/2022 21:51

Voyage Hotel Belek stay in a Laguna villa. 2 storey building and has its own pool and snack bar within the Laguna Complex. I think it may have had 2 bathrooms but can't remember.

Liberty Lykia Olu Deniz. 2 separate bedrooms plus a living room with sofa bed. 2 bathrooms too.

Martinhal Sagres Portugal- 2 bedrooms. Plus a huge living room.

As mentioned above Las Dalias in Tenerife - interconnecting rooms.

modgepodge · 14/08/2022 22:04

Very useful as I’ve literally been looking at holidays for next year today.

lots have the option of a bedroom then a sofa bed in the living room. How do people do this? If you put the child in the living room then you end up tiptoeing round them all evening while they sleep, but equally I don’t relish putting my child in the lovely kingsize bed and sleeping on a sofa bed myself!!

i really want a proper apartment with 2 separate bedrooms and an struggling to find many places that offer this on an inclusive resort rather than self catering. Up til now we’ve done UK cottage breaks for this exact reason (plus covid).

any suggestions in the canaries or the Balearics greatly appreciated!!

Great idea for a post!!

Golden Port Salou - 2 bedrooms with sliding door. 1 bathroom.

Manhattan Club New York - bedroom with ensuite, living area with sofa bed and roll away bed, kitchenette with microwave with popcorn supplied! 2nd bathroom.
