Disappointing weather in Tenerife

My own fault for not researching it properly (even though I Trip Advisored every hotel and attraction to death!) but we are are off to Tenerife at the weekend and the forecast isn't great. It looks like it will be cooler than the UK next week.
It suits me fine but I know DH won't be happy as we usually go to Greece/Turkey/Croatia where it's very hot.
23°C will still feel warm won't it?! Hate spending a lot of money and not even getting the weather.

@NCHammer2022 and @welshpolarbear What beaches am I missing? Maybe I should do a separate thread on this so as not to derail this one. We live in London and have been to the following beaches:

Southend-on-Sea - a total dump

Brighton - stoney

Brightlingsea - even worse than Southend-on-Sea! It's like swimming in a puddle with seaweed around you to the extent it turns everything green. Impossible to swim without shoes as it's so stoney.

Bournemouth - sandy, but you have to walk up and down cliffs to get to it and there is literally nothing around except maybe a doughnut booth.
Devon (Paignton) - stoney beach

None of the beaches have any usual holiday water rides like a banana/UFO/catamaran etc. It's extremely expensive and the water is absolutely freezing! It's also usually windy and not particularly hot.

I’m in Fuerteventura currently. Everyday the forecast says tomorrow will be cooler with highs of around 23C but in actual fact it warms up to around 30C with a lovely refreshing breeze. I wouldn’t want it any hotter tbh!

Try The Gower @XelaM Bloody beautiful. Yes there are no banana boats etc but plenty of other beautiful stuff to do….. sup, wildlife safaris etc. beautiful

We just got back, bbc said 22-25 when we were there… met office more realistic, said 30… it actually was 32-36 most days… also Costa Adeje

Horrible beaches, cold sea, no AI or big hotel pools, rubbish food, no usual gift shops and restaurants along the beach like in real holiday places

This is just daft. I like Tenerife, particularly the middle and north parts.

But the UK has stunning beaches. Granted the water is cold. The Gower peninsula has already been mentioned, much of Cornwall, the Northumberland coast, the West coast of Scotland, the Hebrides.

There is a fair amount of decent food in the UK, not always cheap but good.

There are definitely gift shops in every UK tourist site, not always selling tat.

There probably isn't Al, I don't know and there aren't big outdoor pools. It obviously has UK weather but the beaches themselves are amongst the best in the world.

Most other times of year Tenerife will be hotter than UK weather.

Maybe not when we are having a heatwave but it'll be hot anyway.

Plus it's not forecast the storms and rain we are for the beginning of next week so I think you'll have the last laugh.

I lived there for 7 years and it was rarely cold or wet.

Pretty sure you haven’t been to actual Bournemouth beach if you think you have to climb cliffs to get to it and there’s nothing there. There’s literally a car park next to it, and there’s little fun fair rides, and aquarium, restaurants, ice cream shops, a pier and even a cocktail bar overlooking the beach.

Today did start off very cloudy again but was boiling by 1pm, I'm hoping we'll be back to blue skies all day again tomorrow. It does make a difference but it's been a nice relief for a bit of cloud. But if the sun/heat is your main thing I can see why it might disappoint I'm very fair with pink Irish skin so a little relief is good for me.

Re the airport we had a 6am flight from Stansted, landed on time and out and through security with bags in half an hour: we were shocked and I don't know if that's the norm.

RNBrie · 11/08/2022 20:00

We found that the mornings could feel a bit cool and overcast in Costa adeje but if you get away from the hills and down to the beach it was much better, then everything warmed up in the afternoon so we'd head back to the hotel and hang out by the pool. Hope it stays cheerful for you!!

We got back 3 weeks ago so we were away for the initial uk heatwave and it was still very very hot in Tenerife despite being cooler than the UK.

Also we found the airport fine! Breezed through it. Everyone has different experiences
