Disappointing weather in Tenerife

My own fault for not researching it properly (even though I Trip Advisored every hotel and attraction to death!) but we are are off to Tenerife at the weekend and the forecast isn't great. It looks like it will be cooler than the UK next week.
It suits me fine but I know DH won't be happy as we usually go to Greece/Turkey/Croatia where it's very hot.
23°C will still feel warm won't it?! Hate spending a lot of money and not even getting the weather.

We’re going to Adeje in a couple of weeks. We’ve been in April and it was really warm. My weather apps are showing that it’s going to be warmer than when we went in April so I can’t imagine that it will be disppointing! In fact, I have been twice before in August years ago when I was single and it was boiling. The sun is so strong. One of the girls I travelled with had a reaction to the sun. Huge blisters even though she was wearing high factor sun screen. I had to take her to the hospital.

Honestly it’s super hot here today…. I’ve spent most of the day waist deep in the pool with factor 50 on me! You won’t be disappointed x

leccybill · 10/08/2022 11:40

Well I'm here now. Its 10° colder than at home.

My GC came back this morning, from having a week there. They are extremely tanned.

Oh no Sad, hopefully it will brighten up.
Some things you can do that are less weather dependant ( we went at Easter once and it was cloudy):

  • Submarine trip is fun
  • Segway tour
  • Excellent escape rooms in Playa de las Americas
  • Cable car up Mount Teide where it's cold anyway

Of course the big thing with all of these us that they cost money whereas sitting on the beach is free.

Thanks for this, looks like I need to get booking. Its going to be cold for the next week until we get home. I'm actually gutted.

Sunny and 20ish degrees is hardly gutting.

When we went there were massive storms, landslides blocked half the roads, the roof of the place we were staying leaked and flipped the electrics. We still managed to have fun and we've been back several times since.

MarshaBradyo · 10/08/2022 13:24

Ah we fell for that on a holiday there op

It was still a bit warmer but cloudy for a few days on top

I get how disappointing it is when it’s so warm at home too

Try to do nice stuff and enjoy the sunshine as you can

leccybill · 10/08/2022 13:30

Thanks, there's no sunshine though.
I know I sound ungrateful but we go without all year to save for a nice sunshine holiday in August (only time we can go), it costs £££££ and now it's cold and cloudy, and 10° hotter back home.

I hear you, I couldn’t believe it considering the location near equator

it was a bit warmer and and least colder at home and that put us off enough

toomuchlaundry · 10/08/2022 13:52

What is your definition of cold?

leccybill · 10/08/2022 13:54

Too cold for the swimming pool.

Wheredoestheblackfluffcomefrom · 10/08/2022 13:57

Are you on the northern side? It’s 27c in las americas

toomuchlaundry · 10/08/2022 13:58

If is it cooler can you go an explore the island?

Dartmoorcheffy · 10/08/2022 14:00

Too cold for the pool???

It's 28 degrees in adeje at the moment

Cosycover · 10/08/2022 14:01

What is the temp OP?

BigSandyBalls2015 · 10/08/2022 14:03

Whereabouts in Tenerife are you - it's high 20s in Adeje/Playa Americas!
Can you hire a car or get transport to another part?

Sunshineismyfriend · 10/08/2022 14:04

We are off to adeje later in the month. I can’t imagine it being cold. What’s the temp? It’s currently 28 degrees here in London and it’s boiling.

FrancescaContini · 10/08/2022 14:05

Oh well. Life’s not perfect 😉

welshpolarbear · 10/08/2022 14:05

They apps say 24/26 degrees in Costa Adeje. It's not even that hot where I am and I'd kill to go in a pool. It's just too hot.

Sunshineismyfriend · 10/08/2022 14:06

Just looked on my app and it says it’s 28 degrees there. Same as London. How is that too cold to go in the pool?

justasking111 · 10/08/2022 14:09

It's an island surrounded by sea Cape Verde is similar. Be thankful for the sea breezes

rookiemere · 10/08/2022 14:35

I don't really understand.

I have Adeje on my daily temperature list and it is showing 26-28 all week.

Are you down by the coast OP ? We usually stay a few miles inland up the hill at Arona and it is a few degrees cooler and usually cloudy up there. But if you're at Costa Adeje itself it sounds really unlucky that it isn't sunny atm.

BeechFairy · 10/08/2022 14:44

It's why I love the Canaries.
It's seldom baking hot, not like Greece.
In August usually a pleasant 25 to 30 heat with a breeze. The sea is a bit chilly as it's the Atlantic. You are unlikely to get "bad weather" in August - perhaps the odd cloudy morning.

Happyandyou · 10/08/2022 14:48

I've stayed nd explored a lot of Tenerife stayed 2 months. I think it will be hot especially in August. Costa Adeji is quite high up also.... I hope you have a great time!
