Venice with a toddler

Would it be completely mad to take a 2 year old (who likes his running around time!) to Venice for a weekend? Will he fling himself in and/or we spend the whole time worrying ourselves sick? Any experience/ideas welcome, please!

MMM as a mum with a toddler living here you could be mad but then again you could not especially if he likes climbing bridges !
I have a strict rule you hold muumys hand when near water ( no excuses) and then in safe bits as there are a fair few then she can run ..within in my sight of course.
lots of campi / squares and we do have one pathetic park but it is there ! Holding hands near water is ok as boat spotting can be fun. She loves riding on the vaporetti as long as she can see outside .
Eating out as long as he eats pasta and pizza you will be fine ( and meat , fish most places are generally child welcoming ). Not all but most places have child seats and changing areas are a bit hard to find - Just change in buggy in a side street ( if not out of nappies yet). Feel free to ask me more if you decide to go - Hyjack Little Italy as I can usually be found on there !
