Flights to Vancouver - Air Canada or British Airways

I need to fly to Canada at the end of the month, if I want to fly direct (which I'm assuming is the least risky strategy in terms of likely cancellations and the knock on effects of that) it looks like it needs to be Air Canada or British Airways. Both out of Heathrow, similar prices for the dates I need, is one a safer bet than the other?

I’ve flown London Montreal quite a bit in the last 2 years, used to do cheapest either BA or Air Canada. There’s not much between them really but Air Canada always felt a bit cheaper, don’t know why? Food was sometimes dire but think it’s better now than it was in Covid.
I like T5 and have now started mainly booking BA as I’m collecting points, I always book direct as it’s easy to change flights online which I’ve done a lot. (Sometime for free, sometimes at an extra charge).
I think with BA standard economy includes one 23kg suitcase but with Air Canada it’s an extra charge something like $80 so sometimes Air Canada looks cheaper but isn’t. I’ve never been charged by BA for my bag being a bit over weight, but have by Air Canada, mind you London-Montreal is quite a short flight, under 7 hours it’s a lot longer to Vancouver so they might be more relaxed due to bigger planes.
I never pay for a seat, I wait till the day before and check in online and you change change your allocated seat position for free, but it’s easy as I’m usually flying alone.
Have a lovely flight whatever you decide.

PS if premium economy is only a bit more definitely book that, the seats are a bit more leg room and due to smaller cabin, there are less people using the loo!

Have you looked at KLM?

Oh! We’re due to fly Air Canada to Vancouver later this week. I’m now wondering what it’s all going to be like back in economy. Mind you, it’s taken 2 years for this holiday to happen so I’m just being grateful for it…..😆

All booked with BA now in premium economy. Thanks all

I'd looked at KLM as hoped I'd be able to travel from a more local airport and take a hop to Amsterdam then straight to Vancouver but the timings were all rubbish. Plus there's been lots of press about delays at Schiphol lately
