Lake Garda in October

So we've book our first family holiday abroad. We know it won't be super hot at that time of year and that's okay for us.
Just wondering, what activities do people recommend? Where is stunning to visit?
We fly in and out of Verona, staying at the south end of Lake Garda. We will be two adults and two teenagers, fairly active but the teens aren't massively in to hiking for hours.

@Thesunrising , that suspended cycle path looks like it would have amazing views, definitely adding that to the possible list.

Thanks for all the tips regarding weather, will definitely bring coats and layers then.

Take waterproofs. We went one October and it rained every day.

I'm hoping it won't rain that much, but we will be prepared for it, just hoping we will get some sunshine!

@Baycitystroller what activities did you still enjoy in the rain?

We still swam in the lake. Bit chilly though! Went to Venice and Verona. Atmospheric in the rain. Did the cable car up from Malcesine. Boat trips to Limone. Lots really. We just took umbrellas!

@Baycitystroller that sounds like a lovely mix of things and similar to what we are hoping to do. Good to hear it was all achievable despite the rain.

@TAmum123 , with our trip less than a month away, came back to this thread and was wondering how you got along at the Thermal Springs? Were they worth the price? Cheers

We decided it was too expensive! Especially when the weather was so good and we had a swimming pool. I might be more inclined to go in October when it is not so hot. After reading this thread we did go to vittoriale - there is a tour of the house which is given in English which was very interesting.

DesMoulinsRouge · 02/10/2022 10:05

@TAmum123 Glad you liked Vittoriale, I recommended it! We didn't tour the house but will do it next time. Good excuse to go back!

Did you find the ship?

EnglishRose1320 · 02/10/2022 12:18

@TAmum123 , yes I'm leaning towards it looking too expensive. Pleased to hear you liked Vittoriale, definitely on our short list

DesMoulinsRouge we found the ship! We really enjoyed lake Garda - especially as it was the first holiday since pre COVID.

If you go to Venice by train from Verona, ensure you travel to Venezia Santa Lucia station rather than Venezia Mestre. It’s a nice ride on the train.

@TAmum123 It is an absolutely beautiful place ❤️
