Easy beach holiday with four year old in April/May

I'm looking for suggestions for an easy beach and pretty town-based holiday with a just-turned four year old next spring. Not all inclusive - my partner is allergic to chlorine so holidays by the pool are out, and it's not really our thing anyway.

Pre-child we liked a pretty old town, hotel with a balcony overlooking the sea, plenty of restaurants and cafes, and a couple of old churches or castles to explore. Happy to spend a couple of days on the beach now we have a child, but don't want that to be the entire holiday. Previous favourite holidays were Rome, Porte de Pollenca and Malta. I would happily go back to Pollenca as I think that's the vibe we're after, but would prefer to go somewhere different.

I'm thinking maybe Greece, but where? Or south of France? Our nearest airports are Stansted and Southend. Thanks!

April/May can be a bit cool in Europe for a beach holiday.
Id head further south like the Canaries or Caribbean or Egypt

That's true, I guess it would need to be end of April rather than earlier. We prefer cooler weather, definitely not wanting 30+ degrees! Around 22-24 would be perfect. Would rather not go further south as I want a reasonably short flight.

All those suggestions look fantastic, thank you @Fivemoreminutes1 Just my kind of places.

However, having read a thread about taking a four year old on holiday I think I might shelve this idea until he's a bit older and head to Norfolk again 😂

You might like Puerto Soller in Majorca? We took our little ones to Trinite Sur Mer in Brittany. Great choice of beaches, nice cafes and restaurants. We only had a caravan but it was always a good location. Not far from Carnac and plenty of old towns to visit if you tire of the beach.

We also stayed in St Malo. Straight off the ferry and you are there! Decent beaches snd wonderful food. Plenty to see and do in the area., Taking your own car is great.

Sorrento is nice with little ones. There are little streets to wander down, lots of parks and are lots of places you can visit by boat. Food is amazing too! Beaches are not amazing but good enough.
