Yikes - plus sized swimwear in Rural France 😬😬😬

I'm in the Tarn-et-Garonne region, on the Aveyron River, about midway between Montauban and Albi.

I've had a really really tough six months, too much to go into here, but I've been "autopiloting" through my life and have put on two stone. 😭

That's hideous in itself. But I'm now on holiday with the fam, in the middle of nowhere in rural France. I've only got my size 16 swimsuit, trued it on and it's hopeless. I'm going to need a size 20 or 22.

Suddenly occurred to me - the French don't really do plus size clothing like we do. Am I going to be able to get one, or will I have to ride out the week without swimming?

For context, it's a massive heatwave, we've got no aircon, and so the family are likely to spend every day swimming in various municipal pools, lakes, water parks etc.

This just didn't occur to me in advance as self-care has been very far down the list. 😔

Go to decathlon, they have loads of stuff in large sizes. I swim in bikini bottoms and a rash vest - no suncream needed. 👍

If you have Amazon prime next day delivery covers France. I’ve used it before.

Yay, I finally got into Leclerc, and they had plus sized swimsuits!!!!

I picked one up for 16€! It's two sizes too big but that's fine, better big than small. I was bursting out of the others, and my boobs looked awful.

Thank you so much for all your help. I could never I've

Love Leclerc! Enjoy your break, and have fun swimming!

Glad you’ve managed to get something - I too have gained weight and heading to france I’ve ended up buying a bikini and a tankini which is what I usually wear…. No sure if I’m body confident enough to wear them but like you no air con and the kids will constantly want to be in some sort of water source.

enjoy the rest of your holiday

I'm so ridiculously chuffed that you ladies helped me find it. I considered it to be a needle in a haystack, and anticipated days of a humiliating search in small clothing boutiques that didn't sell my size.

I was torn between that and giving up altogether and sitting in the melting heat by the side of the pool.

Mind you, I still have to get the courage to wear it.

So glad you found something suitable. As usual, MN proves to be a mine of information!

Woah, I was way too invested in this thread and so ridiculously happy you found something!
Don't be too hard on yourself either. Weight and debt, the easiest two things in life to pile on!
