Passport took 1 week.

Went to Max Spielman to get photo done last Saturday, applied online the same day for a renewal, received the new shiny passport today.

Just posting this for anyone who may be worried about the media reports of long delays. Hopefully they've got their act together now :-)

Mine was back in 8 days too. I was pretty impressed given all the horror stories recently.

Mine was a week as well! Got photos taken for the digital code, applied online and sent of the old passport on the same day, new passport arrived within the week and we've just had the old passport back.

Good for you. Having had a different experience though (13 weeks earlier this year, which meant I was not able to travel on some work trips) I would not rely on this though - planning ahead is still a better option than hoping that your application will be approved quickly.
