thinking of going to kruger next christmas with kids who will be 7 and 5. is this crazy? anyone give their kids malaria tablets - used to go as a child and took our tablets and all fine, but I think I might be a bit out of touch with the risks. Any advice out there?

we took malarone when we went it is a shorter course of tablets, don't think you are mad but Dh and I have talked about how old the children will be when we go and we figured that we want them both to be over the age of 10 so that they appreciate the experience more.

Hope you have a fab time would love to go back again.

yes, you may have a point. I do think we might be thinking a bit too early. just desperate to go, that's all!

Not sure where Kruger is but I took my dc 10, 5 and 1 to Nigeria last December and I gave the older ones Lariam as it is once a week compared to most which need to be taken everyday. the 1 yr old not necessary. My ds1 (10) suffered the side effects of dizziness and stomach pains so I stopped him using them, but my dd2 (5) was fine. You need to start taking the tablets a couple of weeks before you travel so that if there are any unwanted side effects, you will be aware before you leave. I hope this helps.
