Am I mad to think that I will be allowed to take my mountain buggy on the plane? Anyone with an experience of taking bigger strollers/3 wheellers right to the plane door?

Don't really want to take a cheap small folding buggy with me as it won't survive very rough terrain in the village I will be staying.

But I'm flying on my own. So really need to be able to take buggy with me on the plane.

What to do?
Any advice greatly appreciated!!!

I have taken my mountain buggy all over the place by plane (to the door)- never had a problem. In fact, I have taken a double mountain buggy to the door too.

(I did lose the basket in the last trip I made though).

I've taken stokke chassis to the door. no probs. ryanair couldn't understand that in the bag it made us 3kg over, so we'd have to pay, but if we wheeled it to the door of the plane we didn't

I've gone all over, mostly cheapo airlines, mostly shorthaul and never had any problems taking my Quinny Buzz which is a big three-wheeler that has to be broken into two pieces to be folded. Always taken it to the plane steps.

you take buggy to plane door , fold up, put in travel bag. Give it to staff. collect from baggage reclamation. easy peasy

ConfusedMover · 20/01/2008 18:59

Yes, several times taken big 16 inch fixed wheel 3 wheeler to plane steps, then folded (no cover) and into hold. Large buggy will go in hold at plne steps, not in cabin. Be warned, depending on airport of arrival you may not be able to reclaim it at plane steps i.e. have to wait until you get to baggage reclaim. On return to UK this has happened to me at Mancheter & Birmingham.

scottishmummy · 20/01/2008 19:02

BA staff told they me wont collect from hold for you for safety reasons, collected from luggage reclamation

You can take which ever pushciar/buggy you like to the door, just remember when you egt to the other end it comes through with your baggage so no pushchair till then.

A number of airports in mainland europe will get buggy out of hold on arrival i.e. as you get off plane (a bit more relaxed on H&S than UK)
