Has anyone been to Skopelos recently? Any recommendations for restaurants, bakeries, don't-miss things to do?

We are staying in Skopelos Town and will have a car for the second half of the week.

You might get more response on Facebook pages for the island/Hotel your staying at

I always trust Mumsnet more! It's not necessarily logical.

Sorry no recommendations but what do you think of Skopelos? It's on my to do list

It's beautiful! Skopelos Town is very steep indeed and it was a bit of a mission to get here - 6am flights, 4pm ferry and then the stairs of all stairs through town to get to the airbnb - not for the faint hearted or for anyone with dodgy feet/knees/heart. Totally worth it though.

We are here now, anything you would recommend? We are staying in town have been to stafylos which was nice but v. crowded - we don’t have a car so it seemed like the easiest place by bus. The weather is not great at the moment but hoping it will be better by Saturday. Having a lovely time!!

Juices and Books is meant to be good, healthy snacks, smoothies etc, and books, opposite the port. I liked Agnontas when I visited last year, not far from the town, a little beach with free sun beds and a few nice, inexpensive restaurants, very popular with Greek families on the weekend. Stafylos beach nearby is also very nice. Panormous is about 10 or so kilometres from the town and has a big beach, good facilities, lots of places to eat, very relaxing.

I’m going back in a week and want to do some walks using a book written by Heather Parsons, an English woman living there, which you can buy at that bookshop. I also want to visit some of the monasteries to the east of the town.

This should be good for some ideas skopelos.com/listings-no-map/

I hope your having a good time; I’m looking forward to going back.

My favourite beach was at Agnontas where the tavernas are great for seafood and it's a small cove. In Skopelos town, the best food we had was at Molos, and my favourite find was the small cafe at the top of the hill as you climb up from the church/fort at the far end of the seafront. It's called Cafe bar Thalassa. Have the homemade lemonade with mint.

Good tips, I'll try those out, thanks.

There is the most incredible restaurant in the port, can’t remember the name but it’s to the far right if you’re coming in to the Island and was painted green when I was there.
it’s family owned and all the vegetables come from their own vegetable garden, the Nan cooks in the kitchen. Best food I’ve ever ate.

Yes yes to juices and books! Go for brunch! It was a treat 😋

This one? Kyratso's Kitchen?
