Where to go Octpber half term or Easter holidays?

We haven't been abroad since 2019, so I thought it would be good to book a holiday. We've previously been to Tenerife in May and October. But everything I look at seems to have problems:

Tenerife, too booked up in October, not warm enough at the beginning of May.

Caribbean - too far to fly.

Cape Verde - too little to do.

Greece - too cold then & no heated pools.

Egypt - can't really go out without being hassled, fco travel advice isn't encouraging, DD1 doesn't want to snorkel.

Florida - super expensive and DH thinks you can take kids there without going to theme parks.

I normally love researching holidays, but I'm losing the will on this. Our favourite holidays have been AI, cheap end of 5* with a few excursions to go on.

Is there an ideal destination, no more than about 7 hours flight away that I've missed please? Probably for the beginning of April as the end of October isn't good timing with Halloween according to DD1🙄

Cyprus would be nice at end of May (bit cold at end of October)

I think you were unlucky with Tenerife not being warm enough at the beginning of May.
Canaries are usually pretty consistent year round ( maybe excepting Dec- Mar) so I'd generally expect them to be warm enough for a sun holiday in May.

Agree re Tenerife. We went to the canaries at Easter this year and it was hot - swam in the sea and pool daily etc. We had one cooler day at the beginning of the holidays but otherwise very warm

I've been to Cyprus at the end of May and it was plenty warm enough to sit by a pool.
Did Madeira at Easter which was the beginning of April and it was mixed - some days very hot and sunny but others cooler (but nice for sightseeing) and we even had rain one morning.

Sorry, just realised I said May for Easter, it is, of course, April. Is that too early for Canaries?

Canaries ranges from about 21 degrees in winter to 28 degrees in summer. It can of course have random cold days or wet weeks, but generally speaking you're unlucky if you get a week of miserable weather there. We've been at Easter and at New Year and the sun shone every day.

If you want something a bit more exotic and reliably hot, what about Oman?

We have been to Tenerife in February half term several times and it’s always been warm and went once at Easter when it was hot!

Currently having this exact same problem so would be interested in the suggestions you get. I think we're just going to go with the Canaries and hope we don't get unlucky with the weather.
