Anybody got any must do's in Madrid?

Have 2 full days there and a morning.

I already have a sandemans free walking tour booked for the morning of the first full day. We've done them in a few cities we've visited.

www.restaurantesalvadorbachiller.es/index.php/el-jardin-de-sb/ The secret rooftop garden is lovely for brunch. The San Miguel food market just off the Plaza Mayor. I'd skip the open top bus tour - it was crap. Churros and hot chocolate at San Gines. There's a queue but it moves quickly. La Campana for calamari sandwiches. We didn't do it, but Restaurante Botin is the oldest continuous restaurant in the world. It's not expensive but may not for veggies. A lot of the roof top bars involve pre-booking or queuing, but the WXYZ bar on top of the Aloft hotel was free and easy.

Oh and the Temple of Debod and the cable car

We really liked wandering round Retiro park. Lots of people watching, art gallery , boat pond.
Found an amazing teeny church that's referred to as the Christine chapel of Madrid ( if you like that sort of thing, and is a bit of respite from the heat)
Also the indoor food market at San Miguel was nice

Guernica in the reina Sofía is impressive. The prado has good stuff too. The royal palace is worth a look in.

if you are a teacher, take proof as you get in for free (entry fairly pricey!)

definitely hot chocolate and churros from San Gines at midnight!

Definitely the Prado and the nearby Thyssen-Bormisson (apologies for misspelling if the case).

I’m lying in bed sniggering at the Christine Chapel @123rd…

Second the Prado, especially the gruesome pictures in the basement.

Amazing thankyou, so much to look up.

Churros as midnight! Incredible
