October half term - where would you go for a kid-friendly celebration trip?

Our 10th wedding anniversary falls over the October half term, and we've decided to celebrate with a family holiday. Because we're celebrating, we want luxury, but because it's only a week and DS is still fairly young (KS1), we don't want long haul. Needs to be kid-friendly, with good dining options.

Is there anywhere at all, other than the Canaries, that will have decent weather without a really long flight? We've done IKOS and loved it, but I don't think the weather will be good enough at any of their locations.

And if we do end up in the Canaries, what island/resort/hotel should we pick? I haven't been for 20 years, and it was on an absolute shoe string, so I don't know where to start!

Sorry as I can't recommend anything other than the Canaries, but we have been to Tenerife a number of times in October and the weather is good.

Costa Adeje is an upmarket resort with a number of 5 star hotels. I've never stayed in the Bahia Del Duque but we once got a tour of it in their golf buggy and it looks amazing, plus it has a fabulous location just off the beach.

We did stay at the Iberostar Anthelia- good with a young child as they have a duplex suite. It was a lovely hotel, very elegant I'd go back tomorrow if we could afford it.

Or if you would prefer having a bit more space I've heard that the Baobaob apartments are amazing.

Cyprus is often still good in October- it depends how hot you want it really. Same with Crete and Rhodes. I'm a fan of Madeira and there are some fantastic hotels there, but no beaches so if that's important it wouldn't work.

Echo what pp said about a cruise - we did a med cruise in October half term a couple of years ago and the weather was perfect with the exception of Marseilles (which was warm but cloudy) Malta, Spain, Sicily and Italy were all great. If you generally have Ikos budget you could do a suite class on a cruise - so Celebrity concierge or MSC Yacht club.
