I would really appreciate your help. This is a very long awaited holiday for just the 2 of us as the kids are all just at the age to not need to come away with us anymore. I feel like we have waited so long for this holiday just the 2 of us I'm scared to get it wrong and book the wrong thing so I'd like a recommendation. It has to be Portugal or Majorca as we want to go from our small local airport. We would love a bit of luxury with lovely pool and beach close by. We would love to have a walk out In the evening and maybe sit by a harbour and watch the world go by with a cocktail or 2 ! Does anybody know a hotel like this. Thanks so much.

Friends have strongly recommended AP Oriental Beach Hotel in Praia da Rocha but I think your best bet is to speak to a travel agent or look at Tui or Jet2

TripAdvisor has a forum for each city where people ( probably been asked a million times) have the answers to where the best areas are. My system is to find the most suitable area, then search hotels and go back onto the forum with your top 3. One of the locals will tell you if there’s building works or whatever currently.
I’ve never been to Portugal but Majorca would fit the bill. Lots of it is quite smart aside from the infamous Magaluf. Palma is lovely although no beach.

I live in Portugal, I wouldn’t go to Praia da Rocha.

If you like marinas look at Lagos or Vilamoura or Alvor has a pretty harbour

Andraxt in Mallorca?

It's very 'Yacht Club' and eating out is expensive even by Mallorca standards, which is generally more than Portugal, Canaries or Mainland Spain. Not much of a beach either.
