the best shopping malls in new york

I'm planning a weekend to NY and wondered where is the best place to shop. I had read somewhere that 5th Ave etc was too busy and not that may bargins.How would we get to the malls if they are out of town.

If you're only going for a weekend, stick to Manhattan. I wouldn't waste time commuting to an out-of-town mall.

5th Ave is where the Designer shops are but there are branches of Gap & other more affordable places too. It gets busy but isn't unbearable. I like walking down 5th Avenue.

Bloomingdales is worth a look. And Macy's - they have 2 floors of shoes. And, for different shops, try the SoHo area.
