We want to go to Iceland in January, probably for 4 nights. We plan to stay in Reykjavik and do guided tours to the attractions as we don't feel comfortable driving due to the weather conditions. Any help would be great please

We did ice cave tour which was fantastic but I no longer have the details - sorry, but I am sure can find it or similar tours.

Book the northen lights for the first night. That way, if they don't appear they will take you back each night until they do.

The Blue Lagoon is lovely. Iceland js very expensive, by the way so be prepared!

We did Iceland in January and it was great, no queues to see geysers or waterfalls, nature in the raw. We did a circle tour that took in lots of the sights in one day and I’d recommend that although we could easily have spent longer at Thingvellir. The big waterfall Gulfoss (?) was amazing, every last drop of spray frozen in intricate detail . One thing is that it doesn’t get light until 10.30 am and dark at 4 ish so often a coach will leave at 9 , drive in the dark, stop for coffee and then do the tour proper.

Be prepared with clothing though, you’ll need base layers as well as the obvious thick coats and hats that cover your ears . I had full ski gear but still ended up hyperventilating on a trip to see the Northern lights as it was just so cold after a warm coach. Its not just your body, but your legs too (emergency coffee in Reykjavik as I couldn’t feel my legs).. DH had to buy a trapper hat !

I went in summer but the highlights for me were the Golden Circle tour and whale watching. Can recommend Rekyavik Excursions company!
