Hi, we are thinking of booking an apartment in mijas next August for our first abroad holiday since covid. We love the area normally go all inclusive but they are coming up so expensive for next year. How much would you budget per day for 2 adults and 2 teens for food/drinks please?

I'm able to answer that as I'm in that position right now! For food and drink we're averaging around £100 a day. Meal with drinks is around £70 then drinks after that on top. It's not really any cheaper than the UK but wine, beer and cocktails tend to be cheaper. We've also done a big shop at the supermarket as we eat in for breakfast and lunch, around £150 on food for the week

Self catering?

if you do your shopping for the week like you normally would at home, (£150)
Have breakfasts and lunches at the apartment and you can eat out some of the nights . (£80 per night or maybe half that if you get a pizza)

that’s very rough and probably no help to you!

Thats great thanks both. Was thinking about 100 per day would be top end as would maybe eat in a few evenings, bbq etc and would probably have breakie and lunch in. Looking like the more affordable option then.

Self-catering, two older children so effectively feeding four adults. I'm hoping we can stick to £150 per day. This will mean some meals in, some out, some low cost e.g sandwiches/pastries, and taking sandwiches some days.
