Sardinia in August - help!

Presuming our flights don’t get cancelled, we are due to go to Sardinia mid August for two weeks.

We fly into Olbia but will have a car so want to explore.

So far we have booked four nights on La Maddalena but we have a further 10 days to book (limited and extortionate!) accommodation for.
(Have been to Alghero before so don't want to go there).

The beaches in the south look lovely. Some of the AI resorts mentioned on older threads are literally coming up at £1k a night which is way out of our price range.

Willing to spend up to about 4K for the remaining days. How and where should we spend our time?

I realise I have left everything so late but life got overwhelming and just didn’t have a chance to sort this all.

DC are 11 and 8. Will be too hot for hiking etc. Not into adrenaline sports anyway.

We like beaches but not crowds. Happy to do trips into historic centres (though worried about heat).

Happy to split time between another two places.

We were due to go to Sardinia for 12 nights this summer (but now changed to Greece for various reasons). I’m not sure if either still has availability but we were due to be staying in Cala Gonone in Hotel Pop for two nights (I would absolutely recommend Cala Gonone as a place it’s absolutely stunning and you can do boat trips to other beautiful beaches along the coast), and then Hotel L’esagono in San Teodoro for a few nights. We were also going to stay in a mobile home on a campsite for a few nights which was very reasonable and had an on-site restaurant and pool and activities. It was very difficult to find decent reasonably priced accommodation in Sardinia and I was looking months ago so wish you luck!

Thanks so much @2catsand2kids . I shall look those up! Yes I did actually start months ago too and the quality and costs seemed ludicrously out of whack. I’m just sucking it up this year but will be more careful next time!!

Any more recommendations about where to head in the south? Is there a nice village near Chia or is it all insanely busy? What is the bottom of the west coast like?

Try Vrbo former Homeaway.
costa paradiso meets your criteria as an area been there twice it’s beautiful. Pink granite rocks lots of snorkelling. Also Stintino could be an option Nr la pelossa also good snorkelling. Look for air con when you search pretty much essential.
