Okay, I think I may want the moon on a stick here but am sure MN will deliver!

It's just me and dd (2.3) who is very active but asleep by 7:30ish most nights.

Need some ideas and suggestions please!

Really don't want to end up sitting in semi-darkness in a hotel room every evening.

Was considering canvas holidays or some such as at least I could sit outside.

Bless me with your wisdom please!

Hi I'm a single mother of 1 DD (7) and I've done canvas holidays to the south of france and thoroughly enjoyed it. There's a really nice resort near the spanish border on the medditterean side called Argeles where canvas, eurocamp etc have lots of sites. You can fly to Perpignan and get a taxi to Argeles (its only 18 kms to the resort) and therefore wont cost much.
Cheap airlines that fly there include bmibaby (they fly from Manchester and Stanstead) - but there may be others who fly there.
Theres loads to do in the campsites, pools, play grounds, cafes etc but most of the sites in Argeles have a tourist bus type train that you can catch to take you into the main town.
Any questions -please fire away -I've been there lots and also theres quite a few chats re Argeles as its a fairly popular haunt.

brilliant! thanks so much.

i could get 7 nights in early may for £175 and return flights for £85 (mostly taxes!) so it looks like a really good deal.

i've done canvas holidays before but as a family and we took our car. bit worried about food shopping and so on but i might even consider a car rental as it looks so cheap!

wow thats good prices! The campsite shops are usually fairly good and you can get most basics from there and usually fresh fruit / veg. I managed with out a car - think the taxi from airport to Argeles was about 50 euros each way (that was summer 2006.
Hope you have a nice holiday.

if i go 12th may (monday) for a week it's as low as £115 adn flights are 1p plus taxes which comes in at £85 (bloody taxes!)

am really really close to booking it!

thanks so much for the tip
