Wild fires in southern France

I just saw this story about Occitanie in France. Really sad to see this. It must be horrifying.

"Forest fires in the south of France have destroyed almost 200 hectares of vegetation but are now under control, say firefighters.
Several fires started in the Gard department (Occitanie) yesterday Monday June 13, with one destroying 60 bungalows at one of Europe’s largest campsites. More than 185 hectares were burned before the blaze was brought under control."

200 hectares is an area less than a mile square.. Terrible for those affected, but not something with a wide impact beyond the immediate area.

Our friends are travelling there for a holiday, setting off in the morning. I hope the fire is brought under control quickly.

It's a beautiful part of the world and from that report it sounds as though there are a few separate outbreaks.

Pressed post too soon. Take the point about that area being small (I'd not realised how small, so good to know that). Just a shock to see footage like that of somewhere you know.
