Hi,
Am I right in thinking the kids can use their phones in Canada, without me contacting my provider, if the accommodation has free Wifi? This is for the evenings.

i would contact your mobile phone provider re this matter. Roaming charges can be high.

If it’s just for internet use, turn off roaming and just use WiFi

If just using Wi-Fi then you’re fine, just turn roaming off. I’m in Calgary right now and downloaded an Airalo e-sim onto my and my son’s iPhones which have worked perfectly. I paid for 5Gb and 3 for my Ron but he used his watching YouTube quickly but I was able to top it up.

Yes. Turn roaming off. Don’t pay for roaming. We have just come back from Canada and only used Roaming once.
