Thankyou all so much you really helped me sort out our accommodations for Sydney next year. We hav booked flights to Cairns and are planning on staying there 5gree nights then perhaps one night in yungaburra?
Then ending in port Douglas what do you think?

Can’t help with hotels as we stayed in an apartment on a small complex with a pool etc. I can’t help with nightlife either as we were early 50’s when we went. I do remember quite a few pubs etc but for young adult nightlife, sorry!

We were supposed to stay at The Reef House in Port Douglas for our 30th wedding anniversary last year, damn COVID got in the way 😬. It looks absolutely gorgeous and has great reviews though it might be a bit short on night life!

I'd stay at most one night in Cairns unless you have full day activities booked that you need to be in town for. Then head up to Palm Cove for a few nights and then on to Port Douglas.

We stayed here and absolutely loved it.
They book all yours yours too and had bikes, inflatables, umbrellas - basically everything you might need to borrow!

The boat trips can get quite booked up with cruise ship groups so it might be worth pre booking (the hotel above can help you with all that too).

Friends went the next year and also stayed there. Also loved it.
