Hi we are going to belamendia in sept and thought about hiring a car to travel about. Has anyone travelled down and crossed over into Gibraltar?? Just wondering how long it takes to get or out with Brexit? Read reviews a while back saying it took up to an hour, got children and might end up giving it a miss if long wait.

Peak rush hour time there can be big queues - last crossed last Thursday about 11.30am and zero wait

Lovely part of the world for driving around

Went in May and took less than 5mins - no queue at all any of the times. Might have been lucky but we did cross over quite a bit. Have a good holiday!

If you're able to walk around, you can park your car on the Spanish side of the border and cross on foot, which is much quicker. It's the road queue that takes time.

You can always hire a taxi in Gib (or bus, possibly?) to go to the top of the rock etc. In Gib, the roads are narrow and parking limited, so it might be a bonus to not have a car anyway - I remember on a TV programme about it, there was a feature on learning to drive and they had an extra difficult tight corner that they all had to negotiate as part of the test.

Thanks for everyones comments, I never thought of parking up and getting taxi/bus through. I've got 2 very impatient children that wont want to sit in car, they just want to hurry and hopefully see the monkeys!

it’s the monkeys that put me off visiting tbh.

with a car and kids you could visit the ‘Kings path ‘ www.caminitodelrey.info/en/el-caminito/history ( not suitable if you have trouble with heights ).

There’s a cable car in old town Benalmadena www.telefericobenalmadena.com/
