Is my passport valid?

Hello everybody,

Sorry for such a silly question but I just keep worrying about it!

My passport was issued on the 13th May 2013, and expires on 13th May 2023. I am going to Spain on October 4th until the 9th 2022, and I keep worrying I will not be allowed to board the plane etc. I keep reading so many things that say you need 6 months left, which I just about pass. But then I heard about passports which were renewed pre-Brexit (Which obviously was after May 2013) expire 10 years after issue etc

Could someone please put my mind at ease!

Thank you

You need 3 months remaining on your passport from the date you leave Spain.

Your passport has only 10 years validity so is fine for the date you are travelling. Some passports had extra months added making them valid for more than 10 years but looks like that didn't happen to yours.

Thank you! So is it for passports the for example say Date of Issue Jan 25th 2013, expiry date June 2023. So it is clear that there are extra months added to it.

Yes they will be valid for more than 10 years (some had up to 9 extra months added and they no longer count for travel in the EU).

In your example the real expiry for EU travel would be Jan 25th 2023 and you couldn't travel after that date.
