Broken hip and travelling

Recently som broke his hip. We're due to go on holiday in 2 weeks and I'm keen to order one of the buggies. Online it says I need to book through the airline but I booked the holiday through onthebeach. I contacted them for special assistance but the only option available is for a wheelchair which in theory he shouldn't really need. Does anyone know how to do this? I'm figuring it shouldn't be hard.

Buggy at airport? If so you need to contact the airport special assistance desk.

Many airports in the UK (and elsewhere) only have wheelchair support available. Don't bypass it - you get priority in queues and boarding. My personal experience is that it may take some waiting, but go with the flow and be calm. Depending on where you go, if you need help in resort, there are loads of places now hiring out mobility aids. I often hire a scooter.

You will never get the airports, airlines and travel companies to talk to each other properly. It might work out, but just be calm. Arrive at the airport and assistance is there whether or not someone booked it properly. Once you are on the plane, the crew there will ensure your arrival airport knows what you need - they can't disembark you until that arrives so its in their interest to make sure it works.
