First child passport waiting time

pinacolada22 · 04/07/2022 19:57

Has anyone recently received their Childs first passport?
If so, how long did it take from 'documents received' to receiving the passport.
I am in a tiz because we have a holiday booked on the 31st July and the status of baby's application is still on 'documents received.'
Don't think I can do the fast track as sent off his birth certificate.

When did you start the application?

pinacolada22 · 04/07/2022 20:01

@PangolinPie started 9th June, documents received 21st June

You've cut it a bit fine imo. You could be fine. It took 8.5 weeks for my ds renewal, so not a first passport obviously. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to why some passports are taking longer than others. If you've not got it within a week of your holiday you'll need to start trying to get it expedited but they are saying you should allow up to 10 weeks for any/all passports to be processed which would take you beyond your holiday time I think? 🤞for you.

pinacolada22 · 04/07/2022 20:13

@PangolinPie 8.5 weeks seems quite long, my younger brothers took around 4 weeks so I guess it varies quite a lot. Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones and it arrives in time! I'm not sure I understand what you mean Re expedited, do you mean it has to have been 10 weeks before I can do that?

DS’s has been sat at documents received since 29th May. Online application submitted 16th May. Haven’t actually booked a holiday yet but my clicking finger is itching!

GlobetrottingPercy · 04/07/2022 20:15

I applied for DS’s first passport at the start of May. His application was approved 16 days after the documents were marked as received, the passport was then printed 4 days later and it arrived in the post about 3 days after that. Hope you get the passport in time!

Cuwins · 04/07/2022 20:18

I think ours took about 4 weeks from that point. About 5.5 weeks from the point we sent the documents

Fiiiivegoldenrings · 04/07/2022 20:31

We've been on documents received for a month. Holiday is 7 weeks away now so hoping it arrives in time Envy

pinacolada22 · 04/07/2022 20:48

@ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 gosh that is really long and makes me feel even more stressed haha. At least you haven't booked anything yet.

@Fiiiivegoldenrings oh wow that's a long time. 7 weeks though, you will be fine I wouldn't worry. It's not looking good for me tho😂

@Cuwins That's good to know. Where did you send documents to? wonder if that makes any difference.

My sons has been in since 26th April and still not here!!!

They did request my marriage certificate end of May which they already had with my application and I kept getting told no problem, applications can be linked. Only nobody ever linked them! Numerous calls/emails/webchat all saying yes they can be linked, they will let the process team know blah blah blah and nothing.

Last week I got am email saying they would withdraw his application if they didn't receive my marriage certificate by July 7th!!! And fees were non refundable! I called yet again, was told again yes they can be linked and put down for another call back. That didn't materialise so I contacted my mp Friday avo, and got a reply later that evening that they would raise it first thing Monday.

I also emailed passport enquiries and complained about the lack of action linking accounts and mentioned that I had contacted my mp....I received an email back the next day apologising for it not being done and stating it had now been sorted. My MPs assistant called Monday avo and told me the same, and his application is still live thankfully....but no further forward :( we don't fly til 27th August but I was assured on my first call regarding all this back in May that we would have the passport by July 6th as that was the 10 week deadline.

PritiPatelsMaker · 09/07/2022 08:38

That's just shocking @Nsws2015

Nsws2015 · 09/07/2022 09:00

@PritiPatelsMaker it's been pretty stressful!

Although I got a text yesterday avo saying it had been approved!! And an text just now saying its been printed and is being transferred to their delivery people :) when it's finally here i will relax and look forward to our holiday!

We applied in mid May & sent documents end of May. It didn’t update to say that they were received until 17th June. Still waiting for it to update past that.

We’re not travelling until December luckily, but I had seen 10 weeks & anecdotally seen on here it was taking longer.
