Where to go in January?

I loathe January at home in Scotland and we’re thinking of a trip away somewhere warm. Not too hot but warm enough for a bit of sitting by a pool with a book as well as some exploring.

We want to avoid Dubai etc, and would prefer not to go really long haul as we only have a week.

Any destination recommendations please?

If you want warmth it would need to be long haul. Caribbean, Sri Lanka or Maldives?

Cape Verde or Egypt ?

Canaries?

Carribean, was recommended Antigua on here and wasn't disappointed

Gran Canaria, we've been that time of year and had lovely weather. Not too long a flight either. It can be expensive though at that time of year.

Canaries if you don’t want to go long haul. We’ve been in January and it was pleasant beach/pool weather.

We usually go to Tenerife in either November or February. It's usually 24-27 degrees. Parts of Tenerife are really lovely if you avoid the more built up concrete areas.

Can't go wrong with the Canaries for winter sun.

This year we went to the canaries in January and February

Very few days we were able to lie out in the sun.
We had a sandstorm and quite a bit of rain

Which parts do you recommend?

Morocco in lovely in February.
