Holidaying abroad as a single parent, tips?

I have taken the plunge and booked a week of self-catering at a gorgeous bungalow resort in Gran Canaria. My two DC's will be 11 and 4 when we go next May and I am just looking for any tips or tricks for holidaying as a single parent.

will this be your first as a single parent?

i have been on loads and trust me when I say… they are so much easier without another adult and they are wonderful!

your 11 year old will help with luggage etc.

and then it’s just chill out. No secret other than as is my single parent mantra…. Plan plan plan and organise everything so everyone knows what you are doing and when they are going to eat!

This is my first abroad as a single parent which I think is why its so scary. I have always been a single parent which is why I have stuck to your old favourite's Haven and Butlins.

However, I don't want to deprive the kids of a nice holiday abroad just because it's just us three. I've already got a little list of activities, their cost and the taxi cost to get there haha.

What are you worried about?

I always usually book all inclusive. Some where with a waterpark, and kids club. Splashworlds are great and I have a holiday villiage booked for next year.

I tend to get chatting to people. People do notice yourbalone but it's not a big deal there's various reasons why people are travelling alone with their kids.

Good for you OP for taking the plunge! Me and DS have been doing it since he was 3!

Tried Butlins but not keen..
