Does anyone know if there is a bus that runs from the port to the centre of Calais?

Yes there is - I was looking at this the other day researching a possible trip later this years. Theres a free bus - info on the port website www.portboulognecalais.fr/en/preparing-your-calais-douvres-crossing (see travel section)
