Does anyone know of you can pay for an extra bag at the check in desk with Ryanair?

We have booked via a travel agent and our flights are with Ryanair. We have added an extra passenger to our booking all sorted. The travel agent are wanting an extra £100 to add her 20kg bag to the booking plus a £30 admin fee.

Was wondering if we could add this at the check in desk once at the airport and if it would work out cheaper?

It looks as if you can www.ryanair.com/gb/en/useful-info/help-centre/fees (scroll down to luggage bit), and actually we flew back Ryanair pre pandemic and my friend had bought loads of new handbags ( Italy ) so needed to add a bag. We thought it would cost a fortune but I think it was 20 euros.

rookiemere · 01/07/2022 07:25

I wouldn't take my word for it though. Maybe try a fake booking and see how much luggage costs to add to original flight and you should be able to work out how much it would cost to add at airport from there, or try their online help.

Thanks for that. I have been on the online chat and was in position 178!! Think I will try and call them later after work.

We are wanting to book seats together as well. The travel agent is charging us £180 to do that. The link you've provided states if we did it at the airport would only cost £80! Just worried me at the airport maybe to late and wouldn't guarantee seats together.

Will def give them a call (if I can get through) later.

Don't you have your Ryanair booking details? Ryanair generally steer you towards doing everything online via your booking reference.

loopshot · 01/07/2022 08:19

All I have is a flight reference number that was given by the travel agent. I didn't book via Ryanair.

You really need to get the booking reference off your cowboys travel agent so you can do things like this yourself. You’ll also need it to check in online or they charge you a small fortune to do that at the airport too.

I went into the online chat on Sunday. I was position 187 at the start but actually didn't take long to be answered

NCTDN · 01/07/2022 08:43

I got the link I needed to check online (I'd used love holidays). When checking in I could choose seats but needed to pay - £11 each.

loopshot · 01/07/2022 08:46

I have the booking reference number from on the beach, but I can't do anything with it on the Ryanair website. Only on on the beach website and they are charging a lot more for the extras than on the areal Ryanair website. It's around £100 difference

Try using the flight reference online. If not ask TA. You will need to login to enter API and check in at which point it will confirm baggage booking and seat allocation.

Janek · 01/07/2022 08:51

I haven't checked recently, but I thought there were a number of ways to look at a Ryanair booking. Three different tabs, one the booking reference + email address, which is no use to you, but also the booking reference and the flight details or the booking reference and the surname or something like that. So you can still check in if you accidentally used the wrong email address or something.

loopshot · 01/07/2022 09:07

Thanks all I will have a good look on both websites when home and have more time.

Does anyone know if you can add seats together and extra baggage when you check in?

We always had baggage and seats included when booking before, this is the first time we've used OTB so a little clueless and not really wanting to pay their extra prices!

You can if there is still space on the plane to do so. You will probably get an email or notification on the app to prompt you when checkin opens. You can enter API earlier than this though.

MinnieJumbo · 01/07/2022 09:24

These are the luggage prices per person via the app. Knowing Ryanair this will be more expensive to purchase at check-in. £30 admin fee on top of charges is excessive of your travel agent imo.

If really is excessive having to pay admin fee. I won't be using them again!

I just flew with Ryanair this weekend and you could add on loads of extras when you checked in including bags and paying for seats you wanted. I guess its just you won't know you've done it and its all ok until check in opens so the agent can charge to sort it for you!

CampervanKween · 01/07/2022 10:40

Get the email address from onthebeach that they booked it with then you can make the changes yourself using your booking reference and that email address. Have done this myself so I know it can be done.

CampervanKween · 01/07/2022 10:43

Just looked - on your booking information from onthebeach you should have this information

Your allocated email address is
Someone's name @sphinxmetz.com
Your reservation numbers are: whatever it is

@CampervanKween I've the email but can't find anything else. It's given me a password and flight reference number. I entered them both into the Ryanair website and it just says invalid

loopshot · 01/07/2022 18:47

Managed to sort it. Thanks everyone
