It's my son's birthday next Wednesday he will be 7 yrs old,any suggestions on were to take him for a cheepish day out and that is fun!! He doesn't really enjoy theme parks he is more into things like the zoo or animaly type thingy places,he likes fascinating things, exploring things, but it has to be not too boring for his sister who is 8 yrs old.
Any suggestions please let me know ,a few ideas I had was a dinasaur place anyone been there?? and the living coasts?? It has to be in the Devon area not too far from Exeter.
Thanks

What about Diggerland, it is near Junction 27 on the M5 (Cullompton I think). You can drive real diggers!! It's GREAT.

Wait a bit, will find a link.

Also near Exeter is Crealy Park, an animal park with indoor fun area, ball pits and all the stuff. Also a park near Dartmouth which I am trying to remember the name of...!

Oh stuff it my work PC won't let me access the diggerland website so can't do a link, the website is www.diggerland.com

Also Paignton Zoo - but I haven't been since I was 8 so I can't really say what it's like. All I can remember about it is a load of bloody flamingos!

Donkey sanctuary near Sidmouth (no admission fee - donation requested) followed by hunting for fossils in Lyme Regis?

Paignton Zoo is great. also Pennywell Farm near Ashburton is good. Lots of animals to cuddle and feed. Pony rides. Trampolines etc.

dancerandprancer · 16/01/2008 18:35

forgot about the aquarium in plymouth. Great. Lots of sharks etc.

laura032004 · 17/01/2008 07:28

I've not been to Dartmoor zoo since it reopened under new management. It's supposed to be much better now though, and it was OK before.

Woodlands is good but may be too far.

Another vote for Diggerland!

Paignton good but lots of steep hills and quite small. Woodlands is good as is crealy park and also liked the pennywell farm, loads to do!
