Denmark this summer

For various reasons we've had to put off booking a holiday for this summer yet, and now panicking it's too late.

I've seen cheapish flights to Denmark so wondering about building a holiday around this - maybe legoland for dc (6 and 8), plus some beachy areas. Seen Jutland and Funen both look nice. Ideally wanting somewhere sunny but not too hot as dc and dh dislike heat.

Anyone with recommendations in those areas? Is faaborg nice as a town? And are prices prohibitative once there? Aiming to self cater, budget ideally around 2.5 k for 10 ish days

The island of Bornholm is very popular with Danish families in the summer and is meant to be one of the warmest and sunniest places in Denmark. It’s got some good, sandy beaches. It’s off Sweden so you can get a train from Copenhagen to Malmö (over the Øresund Bridge) and then a train to Ystad, then the ferry across. It’s a fairly flat, rural island with some pretty towns and harbours. Very relaxed.

Food was relatively expensive when we were there a few years ago... a consequence of them paying their Service workers well I believe. It was a lovely country.
