How much clothes for 2 weeks?

Hi,

I’m going away in July for 2 weeks for the first time with my 2 young children. It’s my dads villa so I have access to a washing machine etc, even though I don’t really fancy doing much washing on holiday! I have no idea how much clothes to take for them! So far I have for them both:

8 pairs of shorts each
2 swimsuits each
2 sets of pyjamas each
8 t shirts each
2 smart shirts each
2 outfit sets each
Beach towel each
2 sun hats each
1 pair of smart sandals each
1 pair of pool shoes each
1 pair of trainers each

Anything I’ve forgot? Is it too much? Not enough? Any other tips? I’m usually a really organised person but struggling with this!

Thanks everyone!

What’s an outfit set?
i think it depends on the age of the children. We’ve always packed less than you say and put a few washes on. I’d go for two towels though if the house has a pool.
Depending on age of children do you have sun suits/wet suits as they can help if the water isn’t that warm.

It’s a matching t shirt & short set x

Sounds okay to me, I'm taking 14 tshirts or shirts plus 8 shorts for my ds's and we go away for 1 week with only a shared laundry in a big hotel. I'm also taking 2 swimsuits, 3 pairs of shoes/sandals, 2 hats. I'm taking 3 pjs though for them to change every other day as they are messy/sweaty pups! I've also put a hoodie on the list as we go to lanzerote where it is cooler of an evening, but also for the journey home as it is the middle of the night.
Don't forget underwear and socks 😉 as these don't feature on your list 🤣.

Ah, yours are younger than mine! We are past nappy stage 😁

8 shorts seems about twice as much as needed!

ZenNudist · 26/06/2022 16:15

Way too much. Pack enough clothes for a week and then wash. How many smart shirts and "outfit sets" do you really need for overseas holiday youd just live in t shirts and shorts. I'd usually take max 7 t shirts and shorts.

Shoes I just take sandals that can be worn at pool / beach and then for little ones a pair of Clarkson doodles canvas shoes but now my dc are older pair of trainers does instead.

Holidays are super casual so unless you are planning on going to fancy restaurants with young dc then I'd reduce what you need.

I did have a feeling it was too much when reading back through the list! Especially as I have access to washing facilities

So there’s at least ten pairs of shorts there - is that right? That’s more than ours owned at that age so we would have packed about half of the amount- I’d be expecting to do washing of my clothes too, esp as things fry so quickly outside of the weather is nice.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 26/06/2022 16:37

I would half the shorts and t shirts and do washing. 1 smart shirt each is also probably enough. Other than that it sounds spot on.

I like having access to a washing machine on holiday and would rather wash as we go as it dries quickly in the sun! Also like to go home with a clean suitcase of clothes if poss 🤣

reluctantbrit · 26/06/2022 17:39

I think we had enough for one week and washed after 5 days,

AttilaTheMeerkat · 26/06/2022 17:40

Thats far too much!.

Half the clothes and twice the money is a good mantra.

Ragwort · 26/06/2022 17:41

Far too much ... most of the time surely you are in swimwear so don't need a clean T shirt & shorts every day ... unless you are particularly mucky.

itsgettingweird · 26/06/2022 17:46

I think for the age of your children that's probably about right for 2 weeks and ability to wash.

Realistically they'll need 2 sets of clothes a day I'd think if they get messy or you go to beach or park and are then going out again in evening.

That depends on the kind of holiday you do. We always do lots of sightseeing and just went to the beach in the afternoon. So yes, a clean T-shirt was absolute necessary for us. Shorts lasted. 2 days normally.
